No. When you run your own gamedev-mcp-server locally (Custom mode), authentication can be turned off. Sign-in is only needed when connecting through the hosted endpoint at ai-game.dev/mcp.

No. The architecture is local-first. Custom mode keeps everything on localhost; Cloud mode relays MCP protocol messages without inspecting or storing tool payloads — only metadata.
